Perhaps I should confess at once, so you the reader can be in no doubt.  I am fascinated by technology old and new, anything mechanical or electronic will at least raise a passing interest from me and in some cases bring on an attack of the dreaded "Technolust"

This fascination with things inanimate that seem to take on a life of their own once you wind them up or apply electric power in some form, has been with me since my childhood.  I am not alone of course, many thousands of people the world over are afflicted with a passion for the discovery of "what makes things tick".   From a very young age indeed we the happy possessors of enquiring minds learn how things work, generally by the simple procedure of pulling them apart!

Technology does not have to be "the latest fascinating invention" some of the machines and devices which I rate most highly are indeed inventions of the late eighteen and early nineteen hundreds.  I firmly believe that we humans are dreadfully wasteful of our inventions, usually passing on to the next discovery before we have even realised the full potential of what we have available to us.  The computer age is the most obvious example of "built in obsolescence" Why most of the computer things we bring home (together with their operating systems) are outdated even before they have left the showroom!

Some technology seems almost timeless in its ability to interest one.  To me at least, the camera and the images produced within the light tight box take on a life of their own.  These pages are my way of sharing this with like minded souls.

Almost all of my collection is "In working order", ready at a moments notice to be used in some project shoot or another.  Most of my day to day photography is done using a current DSLR A SONY Alpha100 but I also make regular forays with my Mamiya 645's and when there is plenty of time and the mood takes me, with one of my two View cameras.  Of late I have re-energized my interest in traditional Black & White for which I have always had a passion.

Lest face it,  there is nothing quite like watching an image form on the photosensitive paper, as seen in the dim red light of the darkroom.  Yes its not instant! and yes it can be messy, but Oh! the quality which the silver image can produce.  Somehow the digital process lacks the same fascination for me at least.......
